A brief history of the club


The Club Chartered in November 1989


The Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town was chartered on November, 11, 1989 as Club No. 26776 of Rotary International District 3290.

The Club was established as the first Breakfast Meeting Club in Nepal with 26 members, 3 of the members where lady members, with Charter President Rtn. Roop Jyoti.
It's to note, that 1989 was the first year, when Rotary opened itself for lady membership.

The Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kathmandu, with PDG Tehmas Manekshaw as the GSR and mentor.

Charter presentation on November, 18, 1989
Charter presentation was given by then incoming RI President Paula V. Costa with all Club members as Paul Harris contributors. The Club received also a Rotating Trophy on the occasion.

Rotaract club of Kathmandu Mid Town received their Charter in the presence of DG Anjan Kumar and fellow Rotarians of the sponsor Club on 16th February 1998.

Interact club of Kathmandu Mid Town, the first Interact club in Nepal receive their Charter in the presence of DG Anjkan Kumar / DRR Saurab Das / Incoming DRR Mohamad Feroz and fellow Rotarians of the sponsor Club on June, 11, 1998.

First Club project
The first project of our Club was (and still is) the Ramkot Clinic, started in the first year of charter in 1989. Each week on member goes to Ramkot to visit the project. The project has seen over the years an considerable increase of activities, including today the local public school, the clinic, the youth club and the cultural center as well the library, all supported by the Club. A RCC has been founded to coordinate all the activities in 2002.

Actual Club strenght
Currently the Club has 55 members, of which 5 lady members and members from 8 nationalities i.e. from Nepal, India, Germany, Swiss, Belgium, Italy, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Paul Harris Fellow
The Paul Harris Fellows strenght of the Club is currently by 55 Paul Harris Fellows of which some as multiple Paul Harris Fellows.
